four years.

Last Thursday we celebrated our four year anniversary! Jason made dinner plans for Friday night, which was a perfect way to end a long, stressful week. He has been working non-stop even when he's home, retail season is in full swing for me, and it's insane. The gifts we got one another didn't arrive in time and it may have been cold and raining, but we were both so excited to spend some time enjoying an incredible meal together, looking out on the river and city.

I shared this with my friends and family on Facebook, but I wanted to share it here on the blog as well:

A few years ago Jason and I started spending all of our free time together... At one point, while standing in his kitchen leaned against the counter, as casually as can be, he said to me "I don't have to ask you to be my girlfriend. You already are, I know that. You have been since the first weekend we spent together." Ha!

Four years later, here we are. I couldn't be happier that I found such an amazing man to build a life with, and while he may not have asked me to be his girlfriend he did ask me to be his wife, so I guess that makes it okay. Happy Anniversary Jason!

It's so odd to me, to know four years have passed since then... Four years. Next year we will be getting married, we'll be newlyweds when our dating anniversary rolls around. Where has all of this time gone?
It seems like a lot of people say they are marrying their "best friend," of course, why wouldn't you? Are you going to marry someone you hate or that you're just putting up with? No. (At least, you shouldn't, I'm sure a lot of people do.) Jason is my best friend. I don't even have any lady friends that come close. We spend more time with one another than is probably normal, we laugh at each others most ridiculous comments and jokes, and even when we argue I never have to doubt that we care about each other and only want the best for one another. He is my person and has been since the first night we hung out in that smoke-filled bar making fun of some crummy band. So, four years down and plenty more to go - I can't imagine having anyone else by my side. I love you Jason!
