the Radiant series + writing

Today I am participating in the Radiant series over on Oh Hello Love. Emily, the blogger behind Oh Hello Loved, reached out to me earlier in the year for participants and I was thrilled with the opportunity. However, it took me weeks to put together a piece to share on her blog. Radiant is about sharing brief moments of love, things that we may not normally recognize or cherish, that could have easily slipped our minds. I keep a whole blog that has emphasis on the romantic relationship shared between my fiance and I, so I opted to skip out on writing about romantic love and rather write about a special time shared with one of my sisters. You can read my piece here.

As I mentioned before, actually getting my story down for Emily's blog took some time. It made me realize that I have allowed writing to fall to the wayside a bit, at least anything creative. It made me miss telling a story for the sake of telling a story, not just writing about the every day - what happened over the weekend, spending time with friends and family, etc. While I cherish those memories and documenting those moments to look back on, it made me realize that I also miss getting lost in thought and just writing the words that used to come so easy. This is something I want to do more of, get back to.

I've had several personal blogs over the years and in my early twenties I was fearless. I wrote with wild abandon, nothing mattered except what I was putting to paper (or in a word document) and I was not ashamed to hit a publish button in an instant. I'm not saying I want to share every emotion that bubbles to the surface, but I do want to get back to a happy medium of that style of writing. If you're a reader who enjoys the current content here on the blog - no worries - there will still be plenty of recipes, weekend recounts, holiday crafts and decor, all of those fun things but hopefully so much more.

  1. I remember you telling me about doing this with your sister because I couldn't get mason to sleep some nights. I started walking around the apartment with him and he liked it just me talking to me and it being quiet. But that story made me cry. Your an awesome sister.

    1. I sent the story over to Emily and hadn't read it since, so I teared up when I read it today myself! That probably makes me a weirdo. I sure wish my siblings thought I was awesome, lol. Well, some of them do. Sam is my baby doll, Rachel tells me she wants to be just like me, and Isabella thinks I hung the moon, so three out of nine isn't too shabby!

  2. Just found your cute blog through the blog hop. I'm a new follower. Hope you'll stop by sometime!

  3. Just read your story, Ashley... loved it! :)

Thanks for stopping by the blog! Always feel free to leave a comment, suggestion, or ask any questions that may be on your mind.

I read each and every one of them and love connecting with you all!
