Super Bowl XLVII {our party}

A few months ago when I was looking for party appetizers I ran across a chili bar themed event and couldn't get the idea out of my head. The more I thought about it the more a chili bar seemed like the perfect idea for a Super Bowl party. We usually just have a few people over for snacks and drinks, but this year we decided to put in a little more effort - invite more friends and host an actual party. The end result was a huge success! The chili bar went over very well, everyone ate, went back for seconds (and thirds in some cases,) we surprised a friend with birthday cupcakes at halftime, and everyone enjoyed the game!

We served buffalo chicken dip and Ro-Tel cheese dip (not pictured) in addition to the chili bar which consisted of a crockpot of homemade chili, pasta noodles to add if you wanted, Fritos, tortilla chips and assorted condiments, shredded cheese, and veggies for build your own nachos and chili dogs. It really was the perfect set-up with the cold temperatures and snow on the ground and we were so happy that everyone enjoyed it!

Jason and I were pulling for the Ravens and were excited that they won! We would have been far more excited if they had been our team, the Bengals, but with Harbaugh ties to our alma mater WKU we weren't going to be disappointed with either team winning. Go Harbaugh brothers! (All I really wanted was to see Jim Harbaugh getting upset and storming around the sideline - and that definitely happened.) Both teams played an excellent game, even with the power outage, and we had a great time spending the evening with friends. I can't wait to do it again next year!
