sunday social: happy new year!

I can't believe it's the last weekend of the year... And the last weekend of football season. I'm already thinking about the Super Bowl (mostly because I don't anticipate my team getting far in the playoffs, although it would be awesome!) and we're hosting a get-together for the game, regardless of who is playing. Instead of focusing on February however, I'm linking up with Neely and Ashley for this week's Sunday Social which is all about the new year that we're roughly 27 hours away from beginning.

1. Favorite New Year's eve you’ve had before?

I think my favorite New Year's eve was probably the first one Jason I spent together in 2009. We went out to the bar and a friend's party. Drinks, dancing, music. He wasn't feeling very well, but we had a lot of fun! (We also hung out in a bathroom... and shower at that party. I don't know why.)

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?
We're going over to our friends' house to hang out, play games, have a few drinks, and watch the ball drop with whoever shows up. (No hanging out in showers though.)

3. Name a book we should all read come January?
I am so behind on books... I'm currently reading Things We Didn't See Coming and it's pretty good if you like post-apocalyptic novels that keep you guessing as the story unfolds. I had recently read Brave New World when I put this on my reading list, however this book is a much quicker read and while the story is somewhat complex it doesn't even begin to touch Huxley.

4. What are your New Year's resolutions?
I'm not a big resolutions person, but there are some things I definitely want to commit to making happen in the new year.

1. I need to stop investing energy in doing nice things for people that don't appreciate them. It's a waste of my time and usually money. Instead, I want to focus more on the people that matter.
2. Read more! I think 12 books in 12 months sounds feasible.
3. Buckle down on wedding planning. We must have a venue, photographer, engagement photos, and a dress by years end. It will undoubtedly fly by.
4. Work out, eat better, whatever it takes to lose about 10lbs.
5. Cut spending, save more.

  1. I can totally relate to the items on the things you want to commit to :)

  2. Yes! Workout, eat better. Lose 10 lbs. I must get on this.
