one year ago...

Jason and I met at a local bar with some friends for a few drinks after work and band practice. We had talked about music and other common interests briefly before, but not a whole lot.

He was wearing his Old Crow Medicine Show shirt and I was wearing a green tank-top with a black cardigan. He was the first person I saw when I walked in the door.

We spent a few hours talking about how horrible the band was and other things. When the bar closed we had to take a friend back to their car outside of town, then Jason took me back to my car and followed me home. We talked in the parking lot for a bit before he had to leave… He had stayed in town until 3am, had to drive an hour home into another time zone, making it 4am where he was from, and then be at work at 8am. I told him I wanted him to stay longer, but I didn’t want to ruin his work day anymore that being out all night already would.

No kissing, no hand holding, no anything like that, I finally told him goodnight and let him leave, and I made my way upstairs to my empty apartment.

He told me the next day that having zero sleep and feeling crummy all day was completely worth it… I think that was the first time I got mad about us living so far apart.
