old chicago & whole foods

We took a trip to Louisville today after we found out everything in Glendale was closed.

First stop: Old Chicago.

I had Chicago-style pizza with mushrooms, green peppers, and pepperoni. It was delicious!!!

Jason did thin crust with ham, pepperoncini, and roasted garlic. Which he also loved.

Afterward, we picked up a couple of Christmas presents for my siblings and then made a stop at Whole Foods. I had never been before, but really wanted to pick up some brie (best cheese EVER.) Whole Foods is awesome! I was tempted to buy a ton of things in the store, but resisted the urge… for the most part…

We left with two kings of brie, blue cheese, a strawberry pomegranate granola bar (I wanted to try it before I get a ton of them!), two marble cheesecake brownie bars, and a bottle of Riesling.

The staff was super friendly. Jason mentioned in passing that he wished we had a Whole Foods at home, and the guy asked where we were from. When he found out we lived 40 minutes away he gave us the recyclable shopping bags and freezer bag we were going to buy, and chased us down in the wine store to give us another bag that’s made specifically to carry wine. Just under $10 in free stuff? Pretty cool guy in my book, and pretty awesome company to give their workers the option to do things like that for customers.

We’re going to have cheese and wine while we watch the season finale of Mad Men tonight!
